LMS & TMS Platform Modernisation

eTeacher's Learning Management System (LMS) and Teacher Management System (TMS) had supported global operations for over two decades. Built using early-2000s technologies, the platforms no longer met modern usability, scalability, or operational expectations.

As eTeacher continued to grow internationally across 100+ countries, the systems became a constraint rather than an enabler. Teachers struggled with complex lesson management and poor visibility across schedules and activities. Students faced fragmented timetables and inconvenient class access - impacting engagement and efficiency across the platform.

Outdated, text-heavy interfaces with limited responsiveness drove high error rates caused by poor validations. Fragmented user journeys, inefficient workflows, and increasing maintenance costs compounded the problem. And with limited in-house front-end and QA capacity, eTeacher needed a long-term delivery partner to drive the transformation.

Kipanga delivered a structured modernisation program that rebuilt the front-end experience while improving delivery processes and quality assurance - all without disrupting the existing backend systems that had reliably served eTeacher for two decades.

The approach was progressive transformation: modern single-page applications built with React and Angular replaced text-heavy, legacy interfaces. A dedicated offshore delivery team - three front-end developers in Vietnam and two QA specialists in India - was established to accelerate delivery and reduce costs.

Embedded QA specialists were introduced to remove testing burdens from product managers, allowing them to focus on product direction rather than regression testing. Daily reporting and structured Jira workflows ensured transparency across regions, while incremental rollouts allowed teachers and students to adapt without major workflow interruptions.

Kipanga rebuilt both the Learning Management System and Teacher Management System as responsive, modern single-page applications - replacing text-heavy workflows with visual interfaces, simplified navigation, and centralised dashboards.

Teachers gained significantly improved visibility across schedules and activities. Lesson changes, make-up coordination, and feedback handling became simpler and more intuitive. Students now access a unified timetable with clearer class visibility and faster class entry.

Stronger input validations reduced user errors across the platform, while simplified workflows cut manual effort for internal teams. Product managers were freed from QA responsibilities, and the platform is now positioned to support ongoing feature expansion and global growth.

The modernisation retained eTeacher's existing .NET backend - the front-end transformation delivered the usability and scalability improvements without the risk and cost of a full system replacement.
