Insurance Quotation Platform & Martech Integration
A serverless insurance quotation platform with end-to-end Martech integration — from the original Emarsys build through to a seamless Braze migration
Key Outcomes
Serverless quotation platform
Built on AWS Lambda and API Gateway, the quotation tool collects user data across the purchase path and passes it to the marketing automation platform in real time — with smart duplicate detection and timeout triggers to maintain data integrity.
Full Emarsys integration from the ground up
Kipanga built the entire Emarsys integration for Pet Circle Insurance — connecting the quotation tool to marketing automation with event tracking, test services, and data pipelines that powered campaigns across the customer lifecycle.
Seamless Emarsys-to-Braze migration
When the platform outgrew Emarsys, Kipanga migrated the entire Martech layer to Braze — preserving all campaign logic, customer segments, and automation flows with zero downtime.
The Challenge
Building an insurance quotation platform with a marketing automation backbone
Pet Circle Insurance needed a quotation platform that could do more than generate quotes. The tool needed to collect data as users moved through the purchase path — capturing pet details, coverage preferences, and behavioural signals — and pass that data to a marketing automation platform for downstream campaigns and follow-up.
The initial build required a full Emarsys integration from scratch: event tracking, data pipelines, test services, smart duplicate detection to prevent record conflicts, and timeout triggers to handle abandoned sessions gracefully. The architecture needed to be serverless and scalable, running on AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
Later, as the insurance division's needs evolved, the platform outgrew what Emarsys could offer in terms of real-time triggering and event-driven automation. A migration to Braze was required — but it had to happen without disrupting the live campaigns and customer segments that had been built over time.
Without a tightly integrated quotation and Martech platform, insurance quote data was siloed from marketing automation — limiting follow-up capability and conversion potential.
Our Approach
Two phases: build the foundation, then migrate it
The Kipanga Digital Platform Protocol
Kipanga delivered the project across two major phases, working closely with Beth and the Pet Circle Insurance team throughout.
Phase 1 — Emarsys Integration & Quotation Platform: Kipanga built the entire integration layer between the quotation tool and Emarsys. This included the serverless quotation platform on AWS Lambda and API Gateway, real-time data collection across the purchase path, event tracking for every step of the quote journey, smart duplicate detection to prevent record conflicts in Emarsys, and timeout triggers to handle session abandonment and incomplete quotes. Test services were built alongside production to ensure data integrity before go-live.
Phase 2 — Braze Migration: When Pet Circle Insurance needed more advanced real-time capabilities, Kipanga built an abstraction layer over the existing Emarsys infrastructure and migrated the entire Martech layer to Braze. All campaign logic, customer segments, and automation flows were preserved — the migration was executed with zero downtime.

The Solution
A serverless quotation platform with end-to-end Martech integration
The Pet Circle Insurance quotation platform lives at quote.petcircleinsurance.com.au — a serverless application built on AWS Lambda and API Gateway that collects user data across the entire purchase path and feeds it into the marketing automation platform in real time.
As users move through the quoting flow — entering pet details, selecting coverage options, reviewing pricing — every interaction is captured and passed to the Martech layer. Smart duplicate detection ensures customer records stay clean even when users return to complete abandoned quotes. Timeout triggers handle session abandonment gracefully, firing appropriate follow-up events without creating orphaned records.
The original Emarsys integration was built from the ground up by Kipanga, including event schemas, data pipelines, test services for pre-production validation, and the automation logic that powered campaigns across the customer lifecycle.
When the platform migrated to Braze, Kipanga preserved all of this infrastructure through a clean abstraction layer — no campaigns lost, no segments broken, no downtime. Braze's real-time triggering capabilities now power the follow-up sequences, drop-off recovery, and lifecycle-based outreach that the insurance division relies on.

"The transition to Braze, with the help of Kipanga, allowed us to move away from static lists to real-time, event-based data collection. Now, every selection made within the Pet Circle insurance quote tool - from pet breed and age to desired coverage - automatically fuels our personalisation engine. This has completely transformed how we stay relevant to pet parents, allowing us to engage them with the right message at the exact point of their decision-making process."
